Year-Round Gifts for the Architect in your Life!

As the holidays come around, we are bombarded with advertisements to get the perfect gift for your friends and family, but are you confused about what gift an architect would like? Unfortunately, we aren’t sure either, but we do have a few ideas that might help you find the perfect gift for the architect in your life! This is a shortlist of gifts that could be given year-round from the cheapest to most expensive! I’m absolutely in love with some of these products and ideas especially designer furniture. Although on the expensive side, the combination of my adult love for furniture and good design means it’s game over for me! Keep in mind, budget is subjective so please make sure to stay within your means when shopping!

High Quality Pen or Pencil

A designer can never have too many of these! If the person you’re buying for prefers hand sketching and writing, consider a fountain pen or a high-quality mechanical pencil such as Rotring. It is cost-effective to get a pack of pens with a nice range of tip thickness!

Waterproof Field Notebook

Just like pens, you can never go wrong with a nice sketchbook for a creative individual. Sometimes you would need to go on-site rain or shine so a water-proof book is perfect! It will save your sketches from any accidental spills too.

Architecture Books

We have a growing list of books on our website! A fun gift for an architect to flip through is, “The Architecture of the Cocktail.” This handy-dandy book shows you how to build a cocktail the architect way, blueprints, dimensions, and all!

Lego Architecture Set or Froebel Blocks

Can’t go wrong with a lego set for any creative people! A nostalgic gift for anyone who grew up playing with these so choose your recipient’s favorite building!

Digital Laser Measure

Copic Markers or Alcohol-Based Markers

Just like a high-quality pen or pencil, these bad boys are great for hand drawing lovers! These markers have variable prices so the smallest set can go for $20 upwards of $300.

LED Tracing Pad

Especially since many are designing from home these days and don’t have access to light tracing tables in studio, this pad is an excellent replacement.

Drone

This little contraption has been a growing tool within the architecture industry because it’s extremely useful for site visits and documentation! They come in a variety of sizes that fit different budgets. Also, it’s fun and a great tool for photography and videography enthusiasts too.

Software License

Whether it be Adobe Creative Cloud, Rhino, or other software, the licensing fees are expensive!! We think this gift would particularly benefit students who don’t get free software from their school or freelance designers.

Scribe Stylus

Developed by Irish architecture firm Dublin Design Studio, Scriba takes the stylus to the next level. Ergonomics and greater control were at the forefront of its development and design.

Architect Designed Furniture

Many architects have dabbled in furniture and houseware design such as Zaha Hadid and Tobia Scarpa. These gifts would make a luxurious addition to any home.

I’m not a frequent gift-giver myself, so I understand how difficult it is! However, if none of these items on the list fit your preferences, check out the video about home studio supplies. Click Here!
