We’ve selected these four design competitions for you to consider! We will provide an overall description of the competition and entry deadline, so if you are interested, please refer to the competition links below! If you are hesitant about your competition entry, our team of designers is always around for a Competition Consultation providing you with objective feedback about your submission.

NonArchitecture - Unbuilt Projects

Deadline: September 30, 2021

Construction is the most obvious reward for an architectural project. Still, very often, to make things buildable, architects have to sacrifice innovation and creativity and surrender to business as usual.

Non Architecture launches an award to honor those projects that didn’t take that approach and are unbuilt and unbuildable, either because they were designed to stay as such or because their innovative charge brought them into the realm of the unpractical. We want to reward their innovative and experimental character with an award, organized in 4 categories – Urban, Landscape, Architecture, and Aspatial.

The award is open for student works, conceptual designs, competition entries, research & speculative initiatives of all sorts. Projects can have an exploratory or critical purpose, as long as they were not designed with the primary goal of being built. This one is unique because the winners will receive a unique designed 3D-printed trophy!

If you register using our promo code ARCHIHACKS, you'll get 10% off the entry fee as well!

A+C Designs - Flexipod

Deadline: September 26, 2021

Throughout the current global circumstances, we have experienced first-hand the challenges that architecture students and graduates face in maintaining design motivation and securing roles in the industry. This is why we want to launch a competition solely for young architects and architecture students, which enhances skills, raises awareness of topical design issues, and prepares for the next step in their architecture journey.

The purpose of the competition is to push young architects to consider the positive impact of building temporary mobile structures that have the lightest possible impact on the land and can have multiple uses, rather than multiple permanent structures that will one day be knocked down and create more harmful waste. Make sure to visit the website and read the requirements for this competition!

Fun fact, our team member, Jinsu, will be on the jury for the competition!

Rohan Builders - TheDrawingBoard

Deadline: September 9, 2021

The Pandharpur Wari, a 21-day one-way sojourn that takes place in June and July(ashada), from Alandi and Dehu to Pandharpur undertaken to meet Lord Vithoba, is a heritage treasure especially for Maharashtra, encompassing the spiritual, spatial, and social elevation of humankind sustained by Wari as an instrument of change since the last 700 years. This march on foot from various locations in Maharashtra to Vithoba temple, Pandharpur, attracts over a million pilgrims.

This year’s design challenge is, therefore, much more than an architecture contest. Immerse yourself in the study of Wari and discover the higher calling that pilgrims submit to each year.

Archi Hacks - Money Shot 2021

Deadline: August 31st, 23:59PM PDT

Whether you love them or hate them, architectural renderings are here to stay. Thanks to the advancements in graphic technology, architectural renderings have reached a photo-realistic state in recent decades. Nevertheless, the essence of rendering lies in communicating the designer’s vision to the general public.

So this quarter, we are challenging you to send us your most captivating and telling architectural renderings for your projects. There are no restrictions on project scale, program, or site, and all means of rendering are accepted, including photo-realistic, hand-sketched/rendered, and experimental.

These four competitions are great to tip your toes into, and the majority of the deadlines are at the beginning of the school semester too!
