Theme
This month’s theme is PANDEMIC MONUMENT. This topic stems from the goal of producing a singular place or an object that could represent the on-going catastrophes of COIVD-19.
Entrances are asked to produce a square format image that showcases a design that memorializes the events for the future generations. Please provide an image and a brief description within the constraints of the given theme and formats constrained by Instagram.

FIRST PLACE: SOCIAL DISTANCING
DESIGNER
Matheus Carvalho @matheuscarvalho.arq
JURY COMMENTS
“This project stands out due to its simplicity in conveying an otherwise dramatic event. It distorts the ground plane with its subtle and ambiguous morphology while providing a new topography in which one can experience a ‘social distancing journey’. The visual transition throughout the journey establishes a greater sense of what a pandemic monument can be – and the project then becomes much less a monument, and much more a place for introspection of the past, present and future.”
SECOND PLACE: BALLOONS OF HOPE
DESIGNER
Amit Joseph Kurien @kuriens_design_lab
DESCRIPTION
‘Lift up’ is an experiential journey through a series of inter-connected underground voids. The semi-spherical voids evoke a sense of fear, despair, isolation and thus inevitably social distancing. However, guiding us within this maze are coloured balloons emerging from the voids, a metaphor for the victims, medical staff and brave martyrs. Above all, the floating balloons represent what the world so desperately needs at the moment : a ‘lift up’.

THIRD PLACE: WEEPING MOTHER
DESIGNER
Nikhil @nikonthehil
DESCRIPTION
Weeping Mother is a parasitic representation of infested human race that has scratched it’s mother off its due course and in turn has to protect its own origin.
Bloodwood tree trunks rot with rain forming a pool of red liquid beneath all the destruction, as a pimple about to burst.
